Movie Clapboard Birthday Card

Cynthia and I share a love of musicals, on stage and on screen. I have many high school memories of us attending shows in SF, watching videotapes from the library, and belting songs in the car. For her 28th birthday, I wanted to gift her a couple musical (An American In Paris and Evita) along with a five pound bag of gummy bears. I decided to order her present from Amazon and thought the little gift message wasn't personal enough.

I made her a birthday card to send before her package was to be delievered. The "envelope" is a director's clapboard which I laminated (my brother gifted me a laminating machine for Christmas) to make stronger and stiffer. The pieces are held together with mini screws taken from my IKEA boxes.

Happy Birthday Cynthia!
